A Bakersfield man is under arrest for felony DUI after a crash in Santa Maria that killed two children.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Monday September 5, when 36 year old Jerald Holman driving a red Toyota Camry at speed, swerved into oncoming southbound traffic on Highway 166 and hit a Chevrolet head on. The Toyota went air bound and his two step children aged 7 and 4 were ejected and were pronounced dead at the scene. Holman and his passenger, 26 year old Todeshia Lewis of Bakersfield had minor injuries.
On his release from hospital he was arrested and charged with eight felonies including Second Degree Murder and Gross Vehicular Manslaughter While Intoxicated.
If convicted, Holman faces life in state prison.
In the second vehicle, 30 year old Aaron Pyne and 31 year old Katherine Pyne, both of Yucaipa had minor and moderate injuries and two children in the vehicle, a 7 year old girl and a 9 year old boy both had fractured ankles,
